She’s as leather as leather is and she never gave a damn

She drives a 20 year old Honda
On them Goldwings past the red-wing blackbirds
around the lake twice, don't it feel nice
to feel the wind dryin' your tears

But it’s a long way from Sioux Falls to anywhere
Even Fargo is too damn far
A bird on a string is a bird that can’t sing
the love song that freedom can bring

Well the Iceman and Whiskey Charlie
They're the only two men friends she trusts
They say choosers don’t beg, put something 'tween your legs
That'll take you somewhere for a change

So she leans into the throttle,
when she drives past the high school baseball game
And all the heads turn, when she takes that curve
too fast, they say, too fast

But it’s a long way from Sioux Falls to anywhere
Even Fargo is too damn far

The road ain’t exactly beautiful but she’s beauty in it’s inexact frame
she’s poetry that purrs, against the trees as she blurs
She ain’t runnin’ but ain’t standing still

See even delicate flowers thrive by the road side
and brokedown ain't broken if you survive
Old fires that remain burn brightest in the rain
and there’s hope where you used to find pain

But it’s a long way from Sioux Falls to anywhere
